"...Once a good girl goes bad, she dies forever..."

I'm not sure just how many times I've listened to this song, in fact i didn't think an album by Rhianna could be so 'listenable'...and I know that's not a word. One song I've listened to so much in the space of a few weeks so much so it's ranked in the 'Top 25 Most Played' songs on my Itunes, 75 to be exact.

Easy for a good girl to go bad

And once we gone

Best believe we gone forever

Don’t be the reason
Don’t be the reason

You better learn how to treat us right

Cuz once a good girl goes bad
We done forever

Now the premise of the song, is about a girl being mistreated by her other half and getting to the point where she decides she's not going to stand for it no more. Now I for one haven't had to deal with that kind of drama, and God willing I hope I never have to, but it was the catchy chorus that drew me in and got me hooked for those 75 listens.

I think when you get to a certain point in your life where you act right, have good intentions, play by the rules and be the best 'good girl' you can be, after a fashion of not being taken seriously, and having all of your efforts dismissed one way or another, the characteristics of a 'bad girl' can begin to creep in.

This isn't the kind of girl that starts beating on people, totally disrespectful and acting like the local slut, but the kind of girl, who's going to be extra protective of herself and her heart, not listening to just any and everything a man says to her, but decides she's not going to be the type anymore to 'put out' in all capacities, and needs to be shown rather than do the showing, and listening to all the false promises that she's been accustomed to. Not to say she'll be acting like she has no breath in her body, or no love to give anymore, but you won't catch her singing or playing 'Rehab' from the same album a few tracks previously, or wearing her heart on her sleeve so openly, but it'll take a 'good guy' to resurrect the 'good girl' that once was, hopefully, someday.
