Whatever! Just Whatever!
I'm not even mad, I'm not even angry. I'm just extremely neutral. So much so, I am flatlining on neutral.
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
Why is trying to organise a date, [technically it's not even a date per se, it's more like a 2 hour time slot for a post work drink] so exhausting?**rolls eyes 10x over**

It's always a case of:
I can't do that day.
I'm busy that week.
I can only do the first and last Friday of the month.
Thursday's are out, but next Wednesday is OK.
Then I end up going with when they are free. So in essence I'm revolving my life pretty much around them.
This is one element of visiting friends in Texas that I miss, no matter what day of the week it was, it was pretty much a case of:
Hey we're having such and such for dinner want to come over?
So what do you want to do tonight? Go out or stay in?
You get a call at 10am to meet for lunch at 12
You get off work and a call from your friend and the boys are round having dinner and drinks a few hours later.
Whatever happened to a little spontaneity? My sister has it but she seems to be the only one. She goes to bars, clubs, gigs, concerts, dinner, museums, galleries, shopping trips with her friends. She's no different than any of us. Works, pays bills and has to look after herself and her home. If this was a one off I'd be like fine, it's cool. When I sat back and thought about it, this was a typical regular way of planning my social life and it's quicker to get a doctor's appointment on the NHS than to go out somewhere.
I'm sorry waiting 3 weeks to go to the club, or plan a month in advance to pop round and catch up with a friend is not my idea of fun. All this safe, by the diary planning is straight up bullshit. I'm tired of it. I'm going on meetup to inject a little fun into my life.
Fuck this for laughs. I'll be dead soon. But some folks may not even be able to make my funeral.
I Say Break all the rules.
ReplyDeleteI cant stand it when chatting with someone and i get all these rules about you cant call me between such and such time because i have to watch my soaps and reality tv or i dont go out on Friday nites and i dont do that on wednesdays and you cant call me after 10 o'clock on a weeknite. As soon as i hear a bit of that i tune the person out cos i know we will never have fun together.
I can be very laid back and spontaneous and dont get along well with structured people who need advance notice to have fun. Maybe its because i am single and dont have kids that makes me so spontaneous but i do have a few friends in my inner circle who are down for whateva meaning you can go kick it at a "hole in the wall" and flip it and attend a wine tasting without much notice. I love flexibilty and people who are ecclectic and have diverse tastes as opposed to the prudes.
Another pet peeve is those who ride in your car and want to dictate what radio station you can listen to and if they hear a curse word will roll their eyes at you as if this was the first time they heard someone curse while rapping and the same people will prefer you tune the radio to some religious worship on a sunday morning and i say "Hell to the naw".
I am a true believer in "Carpe Diem" and "Dont sweat the small stuff" so i am allergic to all of that 3 weeks planning ahead. Now i can understand if finances is an issue but if its something very affordable and you have an excuse for that too then maybe you need to sit down and prioritize your life and maybe seek a new career and while at it a new life.
I hear you. It just gets to be way too much and it's like why even bother. SERIOUSLY! I remember 8 years ago after seeing Final Destination me and my friend Mrs H went to a bar and were just talking about New York (which was featured in the movie) and we were saying, why don't we just go, and within a week it was booked. That's how I like to do things sometimes. I can do the forward planning but sometimes it feel good to just do something right there and then, just because you can. I like structure in my life, but not always on a social level. I wouldn't mind a phone call saying "Nai, what's going on I'm bored want to meet up and go for a drink?" I've got more chance of being the next flippin Bond Girl.
