The Act Of Giving - This Weeks Donation - Bliss

Roman Howe 9th October - 20th December 2007 (RIP)

Bliss - for babies born too soon, too small, too sick.

One in every eight babies in the UK is born premature or sick. That is over 80,000 babies every year.

22,000 of these babies need intensive care, often for many weeks or even months. As medical treatments continue to improve, this figure is rising all the time.

The vital care that premature and sick babies receive after birth can have a profound impact on the rest of their lives. And for families struggling to cope with having a baby in special care, this will be one of the most difficult, emotional and stressful times of their lives.

My baby godson Roman, was born prematurely weighing just over a 1lb. He was born too small and too soon although he wasn't sick he graced up with his angelic presence for only 9 weeks and 5 days. I thought it fitting that this weeks donation go to a baby charity to help other babies who, like Roman had, need a little extra special start in life.

On the Bliss website you can set up a Precious Star Fund in honour of a loved one. So will make my donation that way which will also allow family members to make donations to Bliss in his honour.

  2. @Shona I forgot about Tommy's. Good for you for donating.

@Funms, no need to be sorry. We were truly blessed. He's in a better place than we are right about now. He taught me a lot about life and in a lot of ways still does.
