The Weekend Was a Great One!

A lil booze, high heels, handbags, and some dancing, made for a great weekend. Throw in some lovely London weather, rest n relaxation and it was a real treat.

Friday, the night out at Guanabara was fantastic. I didn't expect to have such a great time. In fact I expected to be in a pissy mood, but Friday was just what I needed to lift my spirits and give the middle finger to a not so great week. Catching up with MB was great who let me in on his Australian travels and told me what his experiences were like living and working in Sydney and thoroughly recommended it [especially as a black woman] coming from a black man. I told him I don't know of anybody who is black from London who has lived and worked in Oz whether long or short term, and he told me that's my he wanted to do it. I'm going to a relocating seminar for people in my industry for Sydney, Australia on October 1st so am really looking forward to hearing what it's all about. My plan initially would be 3 months minimum then spend that time afterwards travelling a bit in the Far East, seeing more of Oz and New Zealand. Coming back to London and if I like it that much go back again for another stint. I'm more drawn to Oz than I am Dubai, and on top of that the Australian and Far East is flourishing in the Banking industry, they don't even know about no damn credit crunch over there from what MB was saying. It seems that it's the UK and US that are hard done by at the moment.

I used this opportunity at Guanabara to get to know my Miss D's new beau J, and he's a really nice guy. And I heard from Miss D that he said he thought I was nice but a lil [now what was the word] scary and/or intimidating. Is it the shoes? because in a pair of heels sistah girl is at 6ft or is it the face? He has a good head on his shoulders and I can tell he genuine and decent. Not as nerdy as she described. Thank God it was nice talking to a black man that wasn't reeling off the typical London and UK jargon with the likes of "ya get me", "innit doe" and "fa real fa real". My friends know how to pick em. Although she was not, and has never asked for my approval as she's more than capable, he gets a thumbs up from me.

The whole crowd, those who I already knew and those who I'd only met that night, everyone just had on their 'lovely vibe' hats on Friday. I managed through all that Brazilian music, tipsy on 4 alcoholic beverages [and I drink so so rarely] I managed to successfully talk to Miss D's sisters man H, about trading the Forex regardless of the economic climate. We had a good convo about making money and just talking about social [black] issues and relationships. Always good to get a black man's perspective on things whether you agree with what they have to say or not.

I talked so damn much that night, come Sunday my throat is still a little gravelly.

Saturday, had a lie in, no hangover. I didn't even do my hair as planned and will do it next weekend. Only managed to wash and condition it. I was glued to season 6 of Sex & The City for most of the day as well as a 90 minute nail biting edition of X Factor. That was pretty much my lazy day of the weekend. As well as a lil relationship convo with Miss D. From here on I will never utter the words "so what's going on with you and so and so." She let me know where her head was at regarding so and so and that's all I was concerned about. Do your thing!

Sunday, OMG up at the crack of dawn 7:30am is the crack of dawn for me. A 10am shopping start at London Fashion Weekend with my sister.

Here's pretty much what I snagged

A Bracher Emden red/black leather handbag with semi precious stones and Swarovski crystals - was £799 for £150 [don't even get me started it the same bag Rihanna has, but she's not even got it on the right way round. The semi-precious stones are on the OTHER SIDE!!!!!]
A Crumpet England cashmere racer back vest in Yellow - was £95 for £7.50
A Blush B-Lush gold metallic leather and black suede large hobo bag - was roughly £300-400 for £100
A Elisa Atheniense soft leather grey Handbag - was £200+ for £15
A Elisa Atheniense soft leather caramel coloured Handbag - was £200+ for £40
A Tabitha White bag was £295 for £55
Some crazy designed Japanese top for £5 [no idea on the retail or the brand]
A Malene Birger cropped jacket was £159 for £15
Some jewellery from Anna Lou of London 2 bracelets, 2 necklaces, 2 pairs of earrings for £40

I bought my friend a white leather Elisa Atheniense Handbag - was £200+ for £15, she loved it. THANK GOD!

I was a happy bunny to say the least, and as much as I want to go to the Ted Baker sample sale on Wednesday I'm bailing out. I can shop, but I also know how to pay my bills and save my money and be disciplined. When I can go for 4-6 months at a time not shopping, a hit in one like today is justified and pretty decent for what I got considering the retail on them. And I did good today. I got my leather bag(s), and my intention was to get one. But being leather and at those prices, there was no way I was leaving quality crafted leather handbags that are on sale for the same as PVC bags. And anyone that knows me knows I don't do PVC in shoes, handbags or belts.

Well the day is nearly over. So more Sex & The City for me and some R&R before Monday tomorrow. I've been watching too much SATC because I picked up a pair of earrings and said to my sister "those are sooooo Samantha."

**rolls eyes and slaps forehead**

I'm feeling positive and hope the week ahead will be so as well. So fingers crossed.

Thank God It's Friday!

I got up with approximately 12 minutes to spare before I had my annual check up at the doctors surgery. Thank god the surgery is literally around the corner from my house. Made it a little bit late but it was practically empty anyway. Got back home before 9:30am and decided I was going to take my sweet time to get into the office. Shoot they know I have an appointment, and with all this job replacement secrecy thing going on, the last thing I'm feeling is particularly loyal today.

I had a crazy breakfast, a cup of tea, mixed vegetables, and 2 chocolate éclairs, watched the infamous "He's just not that into you" episode of Sex & The City and chilled for a while. Like I've mentioned before, my eating habits are crazy!! I eat what I like, when I like and it suits me fine. No wonder I have problems eating at other people's houses, it's all too perfectly grouped together and I don't necessarily want rice with my chicken, I may want mashed potatoes or just sweet corn or maybe even something crazy like a chocolate bar. My aunt never fails to remind me when it comes to food I've always been picky. And picky I am.

For London creeping up to October, it’s a beautiful day today. I had a self-productive evening last night and decided to thread my own eyebrows, give myself a facial and a pedicure for £0.00 I've been having an ugly day this week where a paper bag was definitely needed so decided to try and get myself feeling a little better about myself especially as tonight is Miss D's birthday drinks at Guanabara. Why is it when you're looking at your worst, crap hair no make-up guys sit up and pay attention? Regardless it's a confidence boost which I like.

I went to Peckham after work last night and bought some hair products, I'm going to put my hair back in the kinky twists this weekend, as I need a break from having my hands in it daily. Plus it's been a while since I've had them. The change and break will be a welcome.

Got the train at 12:03pm and then when on the Underground saw an old college friend, who I usually see on the Northern Line, get on at Borough station. Its funny I was thinking about her this week, as was she, and we both said we were going to drop each other a line and see how the other was doing. We spoke about the job cuts, Lehman's and now 500 at HSBC based over at Canary Wharf. Great, more financial doom in The City and Docklands. But thank God I got paid to day, and every week that I am, I'm more than thankful and blessed. Looked at my finances today and I am a happy camper!

Must remember to put some money down on the Euro Millions this week. £100 million. Could you imagine? I have no idea of what numbers I'm going to put on so I'll just do a lucky dip.

The poison dwarf is back from her 2 week break from Greece. I have not even acknowledged her presence. And am not about to. I don't like her and with people I don't like I don't pretend to either. It's a waste of my time and effort. If it's work related I will address her. She had the nerve once to ask me "am I engaged or married." Now the fact that I've been here for close to a year and she has to ask means I don't talk about my personal life at work. And I told her just that. I don't care if she's my boss's boss. "I don't talk about my personal life." "Why are you going on 50, married, but have never had children?" Would she fee comfortable talking about her business who other than somebody that works in the same building as her is a perfect stranger? I have too much on my mind in respect to Roman and his birthday coming up and that if she ever so much as crosses me or anyone for that matter IT IS ON! I'm not in the mood today. I'm still trying to decide whether to go to the cemetery with the family on his birthday and plant flowers with them. I was welling up talking to Mrs H when I got into work I was trying hard not to go full on. She said she's thinking about getting him some balloons, I was thinking about a birthday card.

I've applied for 2 jobs online and now have another 34 to look through and add to the shortlist to see if I like the look of any of those. Damn it!!! Now the manager who can't manage is back from lunch.

Drinks tonight after work, going to break in the platform heels [that don't need breaking it cause they are that comfortable] and enjoy my night the best I can.

Quick Summary of My Day

  • Woke up missing my godson and decided to write a post about him today.
  • Mrs H cried at my post and thanked me, although she's glad I think about her son, I felt bad for causing the tears though.
  • Found out the boss is hiring for our department, I read the CV's of the candidates when he had gone to lunch, he is not slick I know more than he thinks. This new member of staff will be replacing myself and/or my other co-worker who is contracting, but I don't care because (a) I'm prepared financially and (b) I'm looking for another job myself as my contract is up at the end of 08. Plus I saw the salaries of the 2 candidates. £39k and £40k. And that's the reason I've contracted since '03.
  • Had the most delicious Turkey Subway for lunch.
  • Blogged more than worked in the office. I am addicted.
  • My mum called me from Bulgaria this morning at 9:37am, my poor dad he only got to say "hello" before she came back on and said "and that's all you're going to hear from him." I hope they're having a good time. They deserve it.
  • I really wanted salmon for dinner, but couldn't use my debit card at the supermarket as I called my bank and had all my money from my current account moved and switched it to my savings account for a few days. A transaction showed up from 22nd September @ 11:00am for just under £60. Very strange as my debit card was in my jeans pocket at home and I was at the office. The only thing I purchased that day was 40 mins earlier online where my debit card details are stored on my account, other than that there are no standing orders or direct debits due out, so it will be interesting to see where this payment comes from. And people want to poke fun at me for keeping a spreadsheet and logging every single transaction that comes out of my account.
  • Listened to Robin Beck - The First Time about 5 times in succession at lunchtime.
  • Blogged at lunchtime.
  • Had a very ugly day today, I need to fix up and change that.
  • Wanted to see a movie after work but opted against it as there was nothing that took my fancy.
  • Battled my co-worker to see who knew the most porn star names. There was no clear concise winner, but I knew a lot. [I have a brain full of useless information]
  • Worked my ass off in between blogging.
  • Had a lovely shower after work and have started watching episode 2 of Lipstick Jungle. It's on pause as we speak.
  • Had another pizza for dinner tonight, and a small bowl of vegetables. [I like my diet to be balanced]. I do eat very strange combinations of food. May blog about food another time.
  • Spoke to Mrs H on the phone, we had a good gossip where I think I dominated the conversation and spoke way too much. The content revolved around marriage and babies, being ready for it and also being happy for those around you experiencing it.
  • Thought about taking charge and seeing what I could knock off of my bucket list. Attending the ballet being one of them.
  • E-mailed Mrs H, D and my sister.
  • Confessed to Mrs H that except for Dallas and the movies I haven't been out clubbing in London since April. I told her I'm going to have an affair, cheat on my friends and find new friends to socialise with because the ones I have right about now are not spontaneous enough and I'm sick of it. I'm 29, not dead. Do you know how many clubs are free before 11pm? I cannot wait for Mrs H to be 100% again, the weekends with her were fun and exciting. Can we get a lobster at Big Easy girl????
  • Subscribed to a few blogs.
  • Didn't get to look into the horse riding lessons for my cousin and Mrs H's niece. I'm going to have a go too [again].
  • Had my 1st blog comment ever. I will cherish that one. Thanks 20.
  • Created this blog post to have just one more excuse to blog again.
  • Some more Lipstick Jungle before bed.
