Cheap Beauty Tip: Hands

Before a manicure or as part of a weekly routine I like to exfoliate my hands. I use lotion probably about 10 times a day [always after washing them] on my hands and soap alone isn't going to remove the potential build up on the skin over time. I find this can lead to the lotion not working as well and my hands seem more dry, especially in the winter months.

Here's a quick and cheap fix:

  • Squirt a few pumps of your favourite hand wash into your hand.
  • Add some table salt or dead sea salt if you have it. [Half to three quarters of a teaspoon will do]
  • Rub hands together, paying close attention to in between the fingers where it can get particularly dry.
  • Continue this for 1-2 minutes and then rinse off.
  • Dry hands and apply lotion.

You'll notice your lotion application will be much smoother and your hands feel much softer.
You can do this for the feet too [It works better wearing plastic/latex gloves when scrubbing and using dead sea salt where the grains are larger] and add a drop of oil to it also if you like for extra moisture. I recommend olive oil for both hands and feet.

If you try it, let me know what you think.
