Fashion Spotlight: Elie Saab + Blast From the Past: Halle's Emotional Oscar Speech

Remember when Halle Berry won her Academy Award for her lead role in Monster's Ball? Do you remember the designer she was wearing? 

Well I guess you do now as you've peeped the title. If you were a little slow off the mark, the designer was in fact Elie Saab.

It was the very first time I'd ever heard of the Lebanese designer, and it was this dress and Halle's win that catapulted him to further international recognition, status and success.

Chris Brown 'Kind of Famous' Clothing Line

Following in the footsteps of Puffy, Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Diddy, Swag Jay-Z, Beyoncé, J-Lo, Nelly, Eve, Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg, T.I. and pretty much anyone else with a record deal these days, Chris Brown has thought outside of the box and come up with the ingenious idea of bringing a clothing line out for his fans [and pretty much anyone else who's interested] called 'Kind of Famous.'

The 'F.A.M.E.' singer released a few promotional shots of the T-Shirt range via Twitter over the past few days, giving his fans a taste of what's in store to come for the clothing line.

A Lil' Off But I Like It

Chloe Sevigny has always been off/quirky/original when it comes to her sense of style. I actually like this dress on her. 

Giselle Bundchen hits the red carpet in a woven leather dress. Staying away from the glam gowns and going edgy n sexy in Alexander Wang, I like it.

 

Blake Lively is working this ruffle one-shoulder blue mini Marchesa dress. Love it! Not sure about the shoes though Blake.

Kirsten 'I'm very awkward on purpose' Stewart, once again looks hella awkward on the red carpet. Love this Chanel dress, just not on her. Looks like something Rihanna could easily pull off.

 

Beautiful/All Right/OK/Predictable/Yawn/Whatever

Well done to Anne Hathaway for looking not so hungry this season. She does the princess look well. This beautiful Valentino gown doesn't have her looking too pale like she has done in many red carpet photos in the past.

Diane Kruger goes for a clean, figure hugging, floor length gown that she does great justice to. Sometimes less is more and Diane manages to pull this off extremely well with elegance and grace.

  

Jennifer Lopez looks stunning in this Zuhair Murad gown.

Oprah "I'm richer than all you bitches" Winfrey looks beautiful in an Oscar De La Renta creation. No that's not Steadman or her new boo folks. That's Mr De La Renta himself.

 

I am not a fan of Zoe "Jada Pinkett look-a-like, with a harder face" Saldana, although she is growing on me. Being a huge movie fan of well...um...movies, it's hard to see a new flick without Ms Saldana popping up in one. She looked elegant in this Calvin Klein design.

Kerry "trout pout" Washington looked aiight in a read dress. Don't know the designer, and didn't care enough to go and do my research. 

 

Kate Hudson showed off her new small boobs in a boring Stella McCartney dress.

I give you 3 guesses who Renee was wearing??? Carolina bloody Herrera. If you know what the stars are usually wearing, then you know Renee practically lives in this woman's gowns. Switch it up Renee, I'm beginning to think you're her only client.

Since Nicole Ritchie, dropped Paris Hilton, became a mother of two she's been looking hotter and hotter. I'm having to double take at pictures of Nicole now as she is looking stunningly beautiful with the wavy brunette locks and long silver Marc Jacobs gown. I'll be paying close attention to Nicole, I've been very impressed by her lately.

She Had To Have It - Maxi Dresses on eBay

Whatever height I am, whether it's 5'8 or 5'9 I'm not exactly sure, for a woman and judging by clothing standards I'm pretty tall. When it comes to dresses, it's either ultra short of ultra long. I do not do that in between length unless it's a 'occasion dress,' so when I found a seller on eBay who sold maxi dresses [which I love] specifically for tall women I was in heaven. So far I have 2 from this seller, one in black the other in a pale blue print and have my eye on the white dress and brown dress. [pictured]. They are very reputable have 100% feedback and their shipping is fast [they are UK based].

No zips, or buttons, what you see is what you get with these dresses. The whole top part is comfortably elasticated at the top which means whether you are a size 8 - 16 it will fit. No restrictions, no tight spots or figure hugging areas on the dress just slip it on and go, and it stays on. What I love about them as well it they practically hit the floor, so even when worn with 4 inch heels it's still pretty long.

So over the years whether you lose a bit of weight or gain it, it's one dress you'll have no problem getting into in the summertime.

She's Gotta Have It - Littlewoods

Winter time is coming, that means September for the UK folks. I have my eye on this padded jacket. It's only £55. I saw it last week, am still in love with it this week, which means I'm supposed to have it.

UPDATE: Got it, and at a discount too They also had the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Patent Leather shoes I've had my eye on too....discounted as well. Sorry I'm not paying big bucks for canvas.Now I have to find a decent pair of 'Boyfriend Jeans' with a long enoughi inside leg to wear with my Converse and I'll be a happy bunny.

81st Academy Awards - Red Carpet

It seemed as though there was a recurring them with white this year. Every year the ensembles seem less impressive to me.

Here are my favourite gowns. You can tell I like tapered waists and full floor length skirts.

Evan Rachel Wood [although too pale for this ensemble] scores point for looking classy, elegant and not overstated.

My WHAT THE HELL SELECTION

Jessica Biel: That's a dress you wear when you can't be bothered to get in shape to fit into the dress you want to wear. It's just so boring and bland.
Beyoncé Knowles: Why??? Just Why???
Tilda Swinton: At least you wore lipstick this year luv. There really isn't a hope in hell for you to ever get it right on the red carpet. Beats that black sack worn last year though.

Meryl, Taupe is not your friend.

How do you get it so right for the BAFTA's but so wrong for the Oscars? Not even a pretty face can pull off this awful ensemble. You should have just gone with a beautiful sari luv. It's like you were trying to mix traditional with haute couture and failed miserably.

Why does this woman keep getting invited with her TV presenter self. Hate the bleach blonde, hate the dress, hate the colour. Scarlet red looks better on you, which you've pulled off before with sheer elegance, this looks a tad bit..stank.

Angie sweetie. You could have pulled this out from your closet from a red carpet event from many moons ago and we wouldn't have remembered. You do black and this style all the time. This is hardly a knockout ensemble. Go back to being heavily pregnant and wearing Nicole Miller gowns, you looked stunning then.

Tulle gowns don't looks good on any woman in my opinion. This frou frou mess just aged you Vanessa by 20 years. YUCK!

Another tulle gown disaster. I would hate to be desperate for the bathroom and wearing this gown.

My 'I just thought they were OK and nothing really to rave about' gowns

Virginia Madsen [in the red] I seriously rocking her red dress. She must have seen Sharon Stone pictured at the BAFTA's and decided to bite her colour choice of red for the red carpet.

Well done to the ladies that actually managed to do their hair. Cameron Diaz is a prime example of Academy Award hair no no's.
