Just Shut The F*** Up About Damn Swine Flu!

Swine Flu. Swine Flu. Swine Flu. Swine Flu. Swine Flu. Swine Flu. Swine Flu. Swine Flu. Swine Flu.

I had about 2 hours of panic initially when the news first broke after there was a case in London, the next day I slapped myself for acting the fool and bowing down to the media circus of hype, hype and more bloody hype. But how many days on and people are still going on about it?

Seriously...Shut the fuck up please!
If it bothers you that much stay in your damn house and spare us all your drama.

This is NOT a pandemic. This is nothing new. How many different flu viruses have we had over the years? Get sick in Me-hi-co [Mexico] which is slap bang next to big ol Texas and California and you got a damn crisis cause it's affecting people that matter....Western folks. 70,000 deaths, that to me is a pandemic.

So what's the death tally in the USA so far?

ONE

'Scuse me??? Pandemic

Let's check the facts as of May 2nd 2009 shall we.

  • Mexico: 101 suspected deaths - 16 confirmed
  • US: One death, at least 141 confirmed cases
  • New Zealand: 4 confirmed, 12 probable cases
  • Canada: 35 confirmed cases
  • UK, Spain: 15 confirmed cases
  • Germany: 4 confirmed cases
  • France, Israel, Costa Rica: 2 confirmed cases
  • Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Hong Kong, South Korea, Italy: 1 confirmed case
So what, not even 200 deaths. And this is a pandemic? People on Twitter and Facebook and the world over acting the damn fool.

There are over 4,000 deaths in the UK each year from Influenza alone!

So where is the government intervention on a mass scale?
Why are these people never featured in the paper in the winter months and the other thousands like them?
Where is the government initiative and drive to put leaflets in the homes of very citizen in the UK to tell them about protecting themselves against the flu, at our expense I must add?

Stick the word swine in front of it and and up pops a new breed of jackass, afraid to leave their damn house or sit in an airport departure lounge in case they pass a Mexican on a connecting flight, or the ones now eating pork. Some folks REALLY need to get educated it seems and use the Internet for research instead of caiding in their conspiracy theory arguments. Yes there are some fools that believe it was whipped up by the government so y'all could put your hands in your pockets spending money making the pharmaceuticals even richer. Some of y'all GOT TIME! Everything [if you want it to be] can be a conspiracy...if your mind really wants to take it there. How about you and your conspiracy theories go away and get a lovely man-made disease together then blame it on the aliens in Area 51.

UK Bloggers, do the flu victims get any airtime in this country when 4,000 of them are dying from flu each year? Because I don't hear anything about it. All I hear is a reminder for old folks to get their flu jabs and that's it.

Death rate extrapolations for USA for Flu: 63,729 per year, 5,310 per month, 1,225 per week, 174 per day, 7 per hour,

See what people fail to realise is this, they seem to forget that even if they did get the damn swine flu, they can actually recover from it. Getting it doesn't equal death. And like I've said and also seen being 'Re-Tweeted' on Twitter where is the mass hysteria in wanting to be protected from HIV/AIDS? Why don't we talk constantly about these diseases that you can never recover from and will have to live with for the rest of your shortened life?

Fair enough HIV/AIDS isn't airborne like the flu where you can't help but catch it if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, but with AIDS, people are not taking this shit seriously enough and I see a lot of black folks going on about the damn Swine Flu [when have black people ever been bitch scared of some damn flu? Seriously c'mon! When you know you got a Caribbean or African bush tea remedy that knocks the virus out of you just from smelling it!] Nod ya head if you know what I'm talking about ethnic folks with the ethnic home remedies!

You know what's funny [in a very wrong and twisted way] as a people we're worried about catching Swine Flu, but purposefully and conciouslly going out there and contracting HIV/AIDS with no fear. How sickening is that?

The reason I take it back to black is because:
a) I am black.
b) HIV/AIDS is affecting our communities GLOBALLY, especially the women AT AN ALARMING RATE! How can we as a race be in the minority in the USA and still have the highest NEW HIV rates over any other demographic. Blacks make up 12-13% of the US population.

In 2005 at an official statistic of 13% of the Black US population approx 49% of the new HIV/AIDS statistics were made up of black men and women.

In 2007 in the UK 35% of the new infections were made up of Black Africans [I'm just going to assume this includes black Caribbeans too]. But this is ludicrous AND WE ONLY MAKE UP 2% of this population.

**BANGS HAND ON DESK**
PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE WTF IS GOING ON?????

I take pride in my morals, and sexual health. I don't sleep around for fun. If there's no stable committed, relationship going on with feelings, love and trust. WELL YOU'RE JUST NOT GETTING THE GOODS. I will put my urges on hold if it means saving my life. But please don't think an 'I Love You' is gonna get the goods either. I don't do a damn thing unless the above is in place [on both parties] and he gets tested and I get tested.

Sounds like a hassle to you? I'd rather go through that and do what I can to sustain my life rather than go through years of counselling and drug taking just to enhance my life with a dreaded disease. My black ass is celibate and it's staying that way. Laugh. mock if you may. LondonDiva don't give a fuck. There is no dick worth dying for and I don't do drugs. I know I'm clean...do you?

So this swine flu crap is just making me straight mad for the pure sense it's been over hyped and people are running scared the moment someone coughs. Are these the same fools that would look at a fine man/woman and assume they're clean just because they aren't coughing or look sick just to convince themselves the light is green for 5 minutes of raw fun?

Let's get as educated, up to date and savvy about the things that really matter people. Swine Flu, just isn't that serious to me at all. It's a top 'trend' on Twitter I wish HIV/AIDS were top trends too. When people talk, people get educated. I bet we could all write a damn thesis on Swine Flu this week with all that H1N, HN1, H11, H1234 or whatever the hell it is, but don't a damn person want to address the real killer amongst us that's a daily pandemic and here to stay.

If it's not through crime, it's through drugs, if it's not through drugs, it's through obesity, if it's not through obesity, it's through raw dick and pussy that we are killing ourselves.

And we're worried about some damn pig flu? Shoot that's the least of our worries.

Health & Beauty Tip - Humidifier

Health - for better breathing.

Beauty - for better skin.

Living in a constantly cold and summer absent climate, we are used to central heating in the home nearly it seems all year round.

To combat the artificial dryness, try putting some moisture back into the air for only £29.35
I just purchased a humidifier for my room. When I stayed with my friend in Maryland in the home they slept with the heating on. As much as I love to be warm the heating has to be shut off at night because I wake up in the morning dry from what it feels the inside out. I turn the heat off right before I jump into bed so the house is still warm and set the timer to come on an hour before I wake up. Any longer than this and I feel awful.

If you happen to sleep with the heat on or feel dry in the morning, try sleeping with a humidifier on in your room next to the bed, putting cold or warm mist back into the air. My friend bought one and I definitely noticed the difference waking up in the morning after sleeping through with the heat on.

I purchased mine from Dry It Out for £29.35 with FREE UK Next working day delivery.

Before I've even finished writing this I got an e-mail confirmation to say it will be delivered tomorrow between 9am and 4pm. That's great considering I placed the order at 13:30.

Warm mist humidifier
Output up to 480ml/hr
Suitable for rooms up to 65m2
Removable medication cup to add aromatherapy oils or act as an inhalant
Built in night light
Auto safety cut-off
Dimensions 34cm wide x 14.5cm deep x 31.4cm high
Weight 1.8Kg
Power 220-240V 50Hz 400W

And The Results Are In!

Well, kind of. I called the doctors surgery this morning and the results from yesterday's blood test are in. All the receptionist said was my file said to make another doctor's appointment. So January 8th [so long away] at 9:36am. Yes 9:36am I will be seeing Dr Shah…again.

If you're called in you know something showed up on the blood test. If it's all fine then what Like I said yesterday, I hope something does show up so at least you know there's a cause for the problem occurring in the first place.

Tats Got To Go!!

I have 4 tattoos in total.

One I love which is a big butterfly above my ankle. Two which I don't mind Chinese letters on the inside of my right wrist and 1 is a simply WTF Chinese word for 'woman' my left bicep. I know. I know. I was 17 years old!!

What the **** did I put that there for? In the hope that if one day I forgot what my gender was my non-mandarin reading ass would actually know what it meant?

At least I can honestly be one of the ones that says "yes I regret getting that tattoo done!" Rather than sitting in silence pretending you like it, just to avoid hearing others say "I told you so." The percentage of people who regret tattoos is quite high with 60% of people saying if they could get theirs removed they would.

Me & My Houston tan in Chicago Sep 07 grinning HARD AS HELL...I mean seriously WTF is that on my arm? No meaning! No purpose!

I was dumb and followed a trend AND my friends when I was 1 year under the age limit for being allowed to get a tattoo by law at the age of 17 when I got my first one. And yes they are addictive. I've been a bridesmaid twice and any 'fancy' function I attend I go through the Dermablend routine of covering it up.

No More!!!

I want it gone! Whether through chemical peels [TCA] or laser removal I will research the best option for me as a black woman [as black skins are very different when it comes to chemicals and lasers], and keep y'all posted.

I will be most definitely be doing B&A pictures because I could find nothing online of black people who had gone through the tattoo removal process, and you'd be surprised who and from where stumble across your blog just from doing a Google search. That oil pulling blog I did some months back pretty much gets hits on a daily basis.

If we can send man, dogs and monkeys to the moon. We can get rid of that shit off my arm!

Jesus Take The Wheel

**Puts back of hand on forehead**

Yes I'm getting extra black and dramatic with it. [Think black folks at funerals who want to fling themselves on the coffin].
I'm feelin it! I'm feeling the sickness take over my body. **raises hands to the heavens**
Lord I went outside in the Alaskan style cold [really dramatic now can't you tell] to get some soup and everywhere is shut. I had to opt for a sushi lunch and got a miso soup just to tackle the germoids creepin in my system. I got that hot/cold thing going on, and all I can think about it my bed, and I'm not even tired. I got that run down pre-cold attack of something going on. And I'm sitting here in the office with a wool shawl draped over me. I can't even finish my food and I LOVE FOOD! And it's sushi too. I must be sick.

I'm still feeling FIERCE though!!
**cough cough**

Bleeding Me Dry

This morning I had a blood test. I've harped on a few occasions about having a 'dead leg' since coming back from Thailand and Malaysia. I came back on November 2nd and close to two months on it's still bothering me. Sleeping on the right side makes it much worse, I'll just wake up with a real bad ache all up my leg if I sleep on that side, so I asked to be tested for Thrombosis as DVT was ruled out when I went to the walk in clinic last month. Thrombosis can be hereditary and my aunt has it, but it's only a problem when flying but needs to take blood thinning medication before she travels. I'm actually hoping that for the five things I was tested for something comes back positive because I cannot even comprehend the results being just OK but carrying on with this knowing something isn't right. I always get pains in this particular leg when flying and the pains were there when I travelled last so know for sure that was the cause of this all happening as I took 7 flights in under two weeks.

Years ago I purposefully stopped taking birth control [Microgynon 30] because both legs ached like a mutha when I was on it, and when I stopped my legs were fine. I remember reading in the local paper when I was taking it a girl died from taking the same Microgynon 30 that I was on. At the time between myself and my long-term boyfriend decided I'd rather be pregnant [if it happened] than end up dead so with her story plus the aches in my legs came off that with a quickness.

I'd rather there be a problem and knowing I can treat it, rather than dealing with this and them not having a clue as to why there's a problem. I'll know for sure as early as tomorrow or Wednesday…watch this space!!!

Keep Your Germs To Yourself Please!

This is the time of year where everybody gets the sniffles. I for one pretty much don't. For me sickness is pretty much mind over matter. I believe if I wanted to get sick I would have gotten sick already. When 75% of the office come in coughing and spluttering I just say to myself over and over "I will not get sick. I will not get sick." And I don't. Touch wood I have missed the boat in catching the annual mutating cold strain this year. It's cold as hell, zero or below at night and not much more in the morning, and coming from the artificial heat into the cold, onto public transport full of germ ridden folks and back into the artificial heat again, I'm doing pretty good so far. With regard to real sickness I probably take off 2 days once every 2 years, this allows me to throw a few fake sick days in when I'm feeling the need to catch up on sleep or things around the house.

The common symptoms of the flu include:
Fever (usually high)
Headache
Muscle aches
Chills
Extreme tiredness
Dry cough
Runny nose may also occur but is more common in children than adults
Stomach symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, may also occur but are more common in children than adults

This year it seems everyone in the office has a cold related ailment [notice I didn't say flu]. If your ass is employed permanently why are you even in? You get paid regardless. Stay at home. Coming in here spreading your germs coughing and sneezing to the point where you don't even look or sound the same. And STOP IT. JUST STOP SAYING YOU HAVE THE DAMN FLU when you leave halfway through the day because of your sniffles but make it in perfectly fine the next. Does anyone know WTF flu actually is? Trust me if you had the flu you wouldn't be taking 2 days off, nor would you even be in the office. One to two weeks off would be more like it, coupled with your body just hurting so much you wouldn't even be able to get up to get a tissue to clean your nose. In all my 29 years I have never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever had the flu. A real bad cold yes, I'm just not that dramatic to turn it into something it's not. If my body isn't hurting, I'm not shivering and my head isn't pounding, I'm calling it a cold! I wish half these pansies would do the same.

PMS

Today is one of those days that if anyone even thinks of saying any kind of random idiotic bullshit to me, they better be prepared for something. Because I.AM.NOT.IN.THE.MOOD!

The older you get the worse it gets. And to the men out there you cannot control it, so stop asking such ridiculous questions thinking we play on it and just leave us the fuck alone if you know what's good for you. You really think it's fun to have no control over your tear ducts, mood swings or sweet cravings? I don't know whether it's a matter of coincidence but on Saturday Alexandra sung Listen on X-Factor and I'm crying when she starts crying. Ruth gets voted off and you guessed it water works. I'm out loud asking "what the hell is wrong with me?" Sunday whilst watching the Bucket List my black ass started crying, Yesterday I'm paying for my Sophisticate's Black Hair Magazine and reach for two Wispa bars, but put them back even though I feel the urge for some serious sugar beckoning. No crying yesterday though. And now to this morning, I go to bed last night with a real positive mood, wake up the same but as soon as I get in here and see these fools I realise after my boss asks me some foolish question I berate him like a 5 year old child telling him to check his inbox, that I think he's a straight up asshole and can't be bothered with his spineless ass today. Yesterday we were all having a laugh and a joke, today his coat is semi-in the recycle bin I move the bin as this ticks me right off, he moves it back five minutes later. I now want to put him in that bin. It's now that I've clocked from tracking the mental calendar in my head that Saturday plus Sunday plus Monday plus Tuesday equals the start of PMS.

The mood may dissipate over the next few hours, but it will come and go. In the next few days comes the sweet [candy] craving where I will eat sweets at dinner time and only sweets. I'll go to the supermarket and buy and embarrassingly huge stash and have the remainder for breakfast at work in the morning. This may last two the three days. For god knows how long all I can think about is sex, sex and more sex. Horny isn't even the word. The tiredness is a killer. No matter how much sleep I get I am always tired. I fell asleep in a meeting two weeks ago and got pulled up on it. I could hardly tell my manager it was because I was pre-menstrual. There is a difference to lack of sleep tiredness and PMS tiredness and after 29 years you get to know your body pretty well. The only plus point are the bigger boobies, but as soon as you're on Day 1 of the cycle no more cravings, sexual desires, mood swings, bigger boobs GONE, just a cramped stomach to contend with for about 2 days straight. I think we get about 1 week out of 4 off. The other 3 consist of the 2 week build up battling emotions, mood swings and bodily changes, and the other week consists of sheer inconvenience. Once you've 'recovered' it happens all over again.

I'm sorry men can act like they get the brunt of it all they want. They don't. We do. Know your woman's cycle, program it into your Blackberry and on certain days just stay the hell away. There is no advice we can give you other than that, and to be honest we don't really care about you during this time. No one is exempt either, women get pissed of at their girlfriends not just their boyfriends or husbands. Some months are better than others, and being forced into a bad mood when you don't want to be in one is difficult enough. When you have stomach cramps, backache, breast tenderness, mood swings, cry for no damn reason, have the need for sanitary towels 3-5 days out of the month, and eat the crappiest food for a reason other than just being a pig then we can talk, till then you have no clue, stop trying to understand, every woman has a different experience some get so sick they can't work, for others it's just plain uncomfortable to even sit in a chair. The most you have to contend with is losing your hair, teeth and getting fat and we aren't exempt from that either. We have to experience this on average between 420-500 times in our lifetime. Cut us from friggin slack and back the hell off!!
But remember this: Women ARE capable of being in a bad mood when they aren't being ruled by their hormones. Hence being asked "Is it that time of the month" pisses us off when we are not. Just accept the fact that at times you are a prize arsehole and that women are just pissed at you because it's well....you!

I Cured My Headache With A Cup Of Tea

I had a horrible headache yesterday. I never get headaches unless I oversleep. I take two Neurofen yesterday afternoon and I go to bed with the same headache. Wake up this morning, same thing. Now I'm a little concerned. Take two Panadol Extra when I got into the office and they didn't even kick in after 30 minutes like they usually do. I'm clutching my forehead and walking as slowly as I can to feel as little as possible. At noon I had a brainwave, I haven't had a cup of tea for about 3 or 4 days. I've been drinking Hot Chocolate instead. When you take tea or coffee out of the equation your body goes through a detox like withdrawal with headaches being the main symptom.

Can you believe after 3 sips no more headache? Cup done and I'm now right as rain.
It doesn't cure everything like it does in Eastenders but it sure got rid of my headache with a quickness!

A Bigger Booty With A Fruit Smoothie

No word of a lie 3 of these a day and 2 popped buttoned pair of pants later and my lower half was filling in very nicely by accident.
I started on smoothies because I bought one of those smoothie blenders and get hooked. Plus I never associated fruits with weight gain. Whether natural or artificial sugar is sugar and can cause weight gain.

I got my parents hooked on them too, and one day I was noticing I was just fitting into my clothes a little differently and decided to have a good look in the mirror.

What the hell, my ass is more rotund!!! But no it couldn't be the shakes, I thought, but nothing was different in my diet. So after calling my mum that evening she said she's going to have to stop drinking them as much as she was loving making them because she noticed she was getting fatter.

My eyes lit up...being 5'8 and hovering around the 135lb mark I envied the fuller, thicker Bey and Mariah figures over the Kate Moss types and always had.

I've always been the tall slim girl [don't call me skinny!!], never wanted to be overly bootylicious but wouldn’t mind a lil extra thickness. My weight had caused me to feel more inferior than superior even if I have heard a load of times the typical, "have you thought about, are you, you could be…a model" You know they are only saying it because you are tall and slim and it's nothing about the looks people are commenting on so it becomes a smile n nod thing and just move swiftly on.

Believe me when I say underweight or slim girls have their own issues that are overlooked in society over anorexics and bulimics. There are a ton of us that will do whatever and however to put those pounds on, and when the video girls come on the TV with the great thighs and round booty you're reminded yet again that you don't feel or look right. But I'm over it now, well over it, and the desperation to gain like I had for many years is now gone.
I fell off and haven't got back on the smoothie bandwagon, but just seeing if it's going to work again and wasn't all in my imagination has me thinking. So tonight I'm going to pick up some OJ and bananas and get to blending and see if a sistah can fill up just a little bit more. Just without the desperation like yesteryear.

I'll keep ya posted!

A Pain In The Leg!!

Sweet Bajeezus!!

I conked out on the couch around 8:45pm and woke up around 1:20am to some god awful leg pain in my right leg in the back of my calf and top of my thigh. Now I am no typical female hypochondriac, in fact I'm one who prefers to self diagnose and opt for the natural medicinal route, because NHS doctors in my opinion are not very good or thorough. I'm rarely sick, am lucky if I get the odd cold more than twice a year and generally don't think I'm dying if I get a pain, scratch or a niggle anywhere.

After taking 7 flights in less than 2 weeks I am not playing or taking any risks with my health. I always opt for a window seat over an aisle, and being 5'8 with long legs as you can imagine the leg room is very minimal. I invested in some of those in-flight socks specifically created in the prevention of DVT, they are long [over the knee] and very tight. Since 2006 every flight I've been on I've worn those bad boys. You'd be surprised to this day the amount of people who've never heard of DVT [Deep Vein Thrombosis] or even wear the socks when flying. Now the socks won't stop it from happening but they can prevent it. Don't be a tight ass and skip on the socks because of the cost. Mine were £9.99 ($15) 2 years ago, they last, and being so tight keeping everything compressed in your legs your feet remain warm on board too which is also a plus.

My lazy behind did no exercises, I rarely drink water, in fact all I had were caffeine beverages coke and tea, and probably got up once on the long haul journeys to use the bathroom, so that's my own damn fault. I've pretty much always felt some kind of pain or pressure during the flights and always in the same places in the same leg, but it usually disappears over time. Not tonight. A day later and my right leg for better sense of the word does not feel right. So still on the couch grab the BlackBerry and Google 'leg pain after flying'....Yep there was enough info for me to say don't ignore this one, and on advice of a forum poster to call the NHS [National Health Service] Direct hotline on 0845 4647 [it seems 3 digits too short but that is the UK number] and they are available 24 hours a day. They will take your phone number, name and address before you get to the discussing your particular health concerns, and it makes sense, if you call about pains in the chest and drop down, they know who you are and where you live.

A Story: DVT and the flight that nearly killed me

I spoke to Kate she was very nice and very friendly, more than I can say for my own damn crappy GP who I know that if I left it till morning would be a waste of time and probably tell me 'I don't think you have anything to worry about.' Well DVT can kill you on the damn spot, some people have died before even landing at their final destination [Ooooh there's a movie not to be watching right about now], and after these cases sparked nationwide concern and brought DVT to the forefront of everybody's attention.

I don't care about the small statistics being 1 in 2 million resulting in death. I don't want to be that unlucky bastard. It's amazing people will believe they could be the one to win the lottery but never the one to be the unsuspecting negative statistic. From reading the story [DVT and the flight that nearly killed me] it seems as though some of the airlines don't believe there is a hard link to flying and DVT. Let me tell you, I know my body better than anyone and less than 20 minutes into a flight my right calf always experiences muscle pain which dissipates shortly after landing. I never get this driving or travelling by any other means, so of course the airlines do not want to get sued like they have been doing in the past. [And never believe a damn word that BA - British Airways says, I've boycotted that airline for the past 2 years and will never fly with them again. For what they charge and they way they conduct business - sorry not getting my money, plus I'm a Richard Branson supporter anyway]. And although you may not die from DVT you could still get it and have to be treated for it with surgery, that I don't want either. NOTE: You can get DVT not just from flying but driving too.

So whether long haul or short haul, make sure you do everything you can to prevent a possible fatal situation. I'm not getting over-the-top-dramatic, but I know enough with the women in my family the risk is higher due to a blood disorder that my 2 aunts and mother has to not even take things lightly. From reading about it before I made the call my body could be breaking down clotted cells which is causing the pain. Either way I'm not taking any risks in waiting for it to go away. I'm not sure if taking a garlic supplement or even an aspirin to thin the blood would have helped before flying, but it's also worth checking that out for future journeys.

No those are not my legs, but some poor unsuspecting fool got caught with his pants off on that flight
  • had a blood clot in a vein before
  • a family history of blood clots in veins
  • an inherited condition that makes your blood more likely to clot (this is called thrombophilia)
  • certain blood diseases
  • cancer, or have had cancer treatment
  • circulation problems or heart failure
  • had recent surgery or an injury, especially to your hips or knees

The risk of DVT is also increased in women who:

  • take a contraceptive pill that contains oestrogen
  • take hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
  • are pregnant
  • have recently had a baby
So I'll wait for a call-back from one of the nurses, it may take up to 2 hours as she informed me that it's a busy night, but I'll be up after my sleep, plus with over 400 DVDs to choose from I think I have plenty to keep me entertained into the early hours.

For once I'm actually quite pleased with the effectiveness of the NHS. As a taxpayer I don't use them enough, but still had to pay for the 0845 call. We got a better set up than the Americans though that's for sure. At least we can get operated on and seen in hospital and at the doctor's surgery without paying a damn penny in insurance. The only thing is though you have to wait.

Oil Pulling - The Simple (Detox) and Most Effective Way to a Healthier Life

I'm a firm believer in holistic over western medicines. I truly believe that for every single ailment known to man there is a natural remedy put on this earth by God to cure it.

Some I have used myself others I have sourced information and passed it onto others with exceptional results, meaning no more prescribed medication or doctors visits.

Just this weekend I got a call from my friend who thanked me for recommending Emu Oil for her 3 month old baby's eczema. That stuff is just amazing for a whole host of things, both internally and externally.

I remember a long thread about Oil Pulling on the forum I frequent on from last year. I was staring at a bottle of olive oil I had I was using on my hair before I shampooed. I wondered just how beneficial this was, and as the thread was 11 pages by 40 posts long it had to be something that was successful, so decided to read further into it. I oil pulled with a capful of Olive Oil, although I later found out that Olive Oil wasn't recommended as over time people have reported that it yellows the teeth over time. So that's the first and the last time using Olive Oil for me.

To break it down here is what I found with regard to Oil Pulling from reading up on it at different websites and forums.

-Sunflower or Sesame Oil are recommended, preferably cold pressed or refined oil.
-You can OP [Oil Pull] 1-3 times a day for about 20-25 minutes each time.
-Only a tablespoon of oil is recommended.
-Never gargle the oil.
-Always spit the oil out into the toilet, never the sink as it will be full of toxins. If you spit into the sink wash it out with anti-bacterial cleaner.
-Rinse your mouth out after OP'ing.
-Drink 1-2 glasses of water and brush your teeth.
-After brushing teeth, soak your toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide as it may contain toxins that you've just expelled.
-Always OP in the morning, before your bush your teeth and on an empty stomach.
-If you OP during the day you need to do it on an empty stomach and a few hours post consuming alcohol.

Here are some of the findings I've come across from doing some research on those that have used it through testimonials about OP:

-Whiter teeth. This seems to be a common thing amongst people who OP.
-Clearer skin for acne/eczema suffers.
-Asthma symptoms relieved.
-Lack of morning breath.
-Fresher breath all round.
-Whiter eyes.
-I read one lady's testimonial who said her husbands eyes had become a brighter blue colour.
-Increased energy.
-Arthritis pain eased/gone completely.
-Shorter and lighter periods.
-Softer hair texture.
-Smoother skin.
-Clearer sinuses.
-Weight loss.
-Crave less sweet foods.
-Dark circles around the eyes disappear.
-Better taste sensation.
-Stops bleeding gums and other dental issues.
-Better/increased vision noticed especially when using computers.
-Fertility problems in women improved/cured. [I hope this helps PCOS and fibroid sufferers - if you're a fibroid sufferer research/Google molasses as a natural cure].
-Shrunken tumours.
-In some cases has eliminated cancers and leukaemia.

There are so many more, and off the top of my head these are the ones that I can remember. Now I've been doing this for 4 days now. The first time I used Olive Oil [by mistake] and did it in the middle of the day. The other three times I used regular sunflower oil I have in my kitchen that I use for cooking. I went to the supermarket last night and couldn't find any expelled or cold pressed sunflower oil, so will go to my regular specialist shop Fresh & Wild, when I come back from my vacation. In the meantime the sunflower oil that I'm using seems to be working. Some people try it for a week. I don't know why people think biologically you're going to do a total 360 in just 7 days. Whenever you start something or take a new supplement you have to give yourself a good 2-3 months before you notice any distinctive changes. In the first few days, I've noticed:

-Fresher breath in the morning.
-Fresher breath throughout the day, and that's without using any mouthwash or chewing dental gum.
-My eyes feel a lot less dry. I have very dry and sensitive [to light] eyes which I've even confirmed by my optician so I know it's not in my head. So dry I've been advised not to wear contact lenses for extended periods of time.
-I'm feeling very tired, which is a sign that it's working. Whenever you go through any type of detox, tiredness is a side effect.
-My teeth feel very clean throughout the day no matter what I consume and I'm a girl with a sweet tooth, who loves sweets and Pepsi. If I don't have my sugar I get the shakes.
-Craving sugar slightly less.
-Light headaches. Again another detox side effect, I only get headaches if I oversleep for a very long period of time.
-Suppressed appetite. Now I'm a very slim girl, and have the luxury of eating what I like when I like and never gain weight. I don't feel as hungry as I usually do. Which during the credit crunch is a good thing. Although I'm going to fight this as I love my food and class eating as a hobby.
-When I do feel hungry, I feel H-U-N-G-R-Y. Like I'm about to pass out hungry and feel light headed like I need a sugar fix.
-My skin feels good, considering my home is heated a lot right now because of the cold weather and this is when my skin starts to get dry and itchy at this time of year. I was even thinking about purchasing a humidifier this winter, but if my skin carries on like this there'll be no need.
-More mucous at the back of my throat. Yeah I know it may sound a little nasty, but it's something that I've noticed. It must mean the sinuses are getting clearer and getting rid of mucous = getting rid of that internal crap in your system. So my body is reacting to this it seems.

After 4 days I'm not expecting miracles, but I'm noticing enough to know that something is working. It'll be interesting to see around that time of the month just how effective the OP actually is. I'll wait until December as I know flying can have an effect on your cycle in terms of bringing it on early, as it has done for me in the past. I'm definitely going to get my mother and Mrs H on this as I can see how it could benefit them for their health.

Now I've talked about oil pulling, but what exactly is it and how do you do it? Here's an extract from the Oil Pulling website:

In the morning before breakfast on an empty stomach you take one tablespoon in the mouth but do not swallow it. Move Oil Slowly in the mouth as rinsing or swishing and Dr Karach puts it as ' sip, suck and pull through the teeth' for fifteen to twenty minutes. This process makes oil thoroughly mixed with saliva. Swishing activates the enzymes and the enzymes draw toxins out of the blood. The oil must not be swallowed, for it has become toxic. As the process continues, the oil gets thinner and white. If the oil is still yellow, it has not been pulled long enough. It is then spit from the mouth , the oral cavity must be thoroughly rinsed and mouth must be washed thoroughly. Just use normal tap water and good old fingers to clean.

Clean the sink properly, you can use some antibacterial soap to clean the sink. Because the spittle contains harmful bacteria and toxic bodily waste. If one were to see one drop of this liquid magnified 600 times under a microscope, one would see microbes in their first stage of development.

It is important to understand that during the oil-pulling/swishing process one's metabolism is intensified. This leads to improved health. One of the most striking results of this process is the fastening of loose teeth, the elimination of bleeding gums and the visible whitening of the teeth.

The oil pulling /swishing is done best before breakfast. To accelerate the healing process, it can be repeated three times a day, but always before meals on an empty stomach.

PRECAUTIONS
(a) Do not swallow. The oil should be spat out. But inadvertently if you swallow there is nothing to worry. It will go out through faeces. Nothing is to be done.

(b) If you are allergic to a particular brand of oil, change the brand of oil or oil itself to different oil.

(c) Sunflower and Sesame oil have been found to be equally effective in curing diseases. Other oils were not found to be as good. Do not blame oil pulling by practicing with other oils. Use refined oils.

Results of Oil Pulling
The result of this healing research has attracted amazement and resulted in further research. This additional research concerning Oil Therapy has now been thoroughly documented, especially with regard to physiological similarities between individuals. It is surprising that through this biological healing method a wide variety of symptoms have unquestionably disappeared without any side-effects. This simple method makes it possible completely heal such a wide variety of diseases which would normally be treated by an operation or by powerful or potent Drugs, usually with significant side-effects.

The simplicity of this healing system in which Oil is swirled backwards and forwards in the mouth, is due to the stimulating effect which it has on the body's eliminatory system. Through this method it is possible to heal individual cells, cell conglomerates such as lymph nodes and more complex tissues such as internal organs simultaneously. This occurs because the beneficial microflora throughout the body are provided with a healthy continuum. Without this natural bodily intrusive element evinced by the microflora the usual pattern of human health tends to lean towards illness rather than wellness. Dr. Karach anticipates that regular application of this treatment by reversing this process so that wellness is the dominant state of the human body is likely to increase the average human lifespan to approximately 150 years, double the present life expectancy.

Dr. Karach is supported in this view by other colleagues in the world.
By means of this treatment {Oil } it is invariably the result that diseases like migraine headaches, bronchitis, diseased teeth, arterio thrombosis, chronic blood disorders such as leukaemia, arthritis and related illnesses, neuro physiological paralysis, eczema, gastro enteritis, peritonitis, heart disease, kidney disease, meningitis, and women’s hormonal disorders are completely eliminated from the organism. The benefit of Dr. Karach's method is that the oil therapy heals the whole body in perpetuity. In terminal diseases such as cancer, Aids and chronic infections this treatment method has been shown to successfully replace all others. Dr. Karach has successfully healed a chronic leukaemia patient with 15 years of harsh treatment methods behind him. Acute arthritis in 1 patient who was totally bedridden was removed from his body in 3 days with no inflammation apparent.

NOTE: The recommended oils to use are Sunflower Oil, Sesame Oil. We are receiving many emails about which oil to use. Our experience with thousands of people across the globe says USE COLD PRESSED OIL as first choice, if it is not available use REFINED OIL ( which seems to be effective in the process too). We have observed that any oil other than SUNFLOWER or SESAME may not be effective.

I hope that if you do decide to use this method, that it works for you. You will most likely feel the side effects like headaches and tiredness, but those pass as time goes on and means that it's actually working.

I hear lucid dreams are also a crazy side effect, not sure whether that's a symptom of detoxing in general. As long as I'm not dreaming about Freddy Kruger, Michael Myers of Jigsaw then it's all good. I will be blogging about updates periodically as time goes on.
