Not a new video from the MC archives, but this is probably VERY unknown and about three years old.

In between Glitter and Precious Mariah has starred in two indie movies, Wisegirls and Tennessee. The latter is a film by Lee Daniels who also cast Mariah in Precious, a role originally meant for Academy Award winning actress Helen Mirren.

I watched Tennessee for the first time yesterday and was happy to see Mariah in a respectable role which redeemed herself since the Glitter days. Unless you're in the indie film 'know' or a Mariah fan (like myself) then films like Wisegirls (where the acting slightly improved) or Tennessee which you may have never heard of.

One song, three different versions.

I heard this song today, which became my inspiration for today's Blast from the Past' post. Such an incredible song that I really felt it wouldn't be right to just post one version of the song by either The Jackson 5 or Mariah Carey so included both, as well as the infamous 1992 Pepsi commercial featuring Michael Jackson. [One of my favourite Pepsi commercials of ALL time]. If you haven't seen it, after watching it you may see why I said that. No frills, no fuss, just simple. Short and sweet, yet magical as only Michael could.

One was called Mac Daddy, and the other was Daddy Mac. They were both called Chris. Both wore their clothes backwards, and for a very short period in the 90's pretty much every girl I knew had a favourite Chris and knew which one they wanted to marry.

They didn't last long on the music scene. Sure they made more than one album but after a sophomore track to 'Jump' the hype had pretty much fizzled in the UK at least for the boys. For the very short period of time that they were popular, many young girls over many nations were snatching up copies of Right On, and Word Up magazine for a cover shot or poster of the Atlanta, Georgia native duo.

I'm sipping tea as I write this. Yes folks...sipping tea. Like myself, Trent who runs, works and twerks The Lava Lizard is a HUGE Mariah fan. I won't go as far as to call myself a stan (another blog post dissecting that term maybe needed one day), there is a DISTINCT difference between fan and stan, that I need to educate folks on, but like I said another time...

I am a lifelong fan, supporter of the diva and her work. I have been since the beginning of her career and always will be. I can, have and will be vocal about Mariah's work and have no problem stating my dislike for some of it. I'm certainly never biased when it comes to my opinion of anyone I admire in the media spotlight.

That was NOT Michael Jackson Singing on The Simpsons

There's some Internet buzz today about the late King of Pop's vocals on an episode of The Simpsons in which Michael guest starred on playing a mental patient who thinks he's Michael Jackson.

Here's the breakdown in a nutshell for those not in the loop:

• Michael guest starred on an episode of The Simpsons with a speaking role. He was credited as 'John Jay Smith' not Michael Jackson.
• The song sung in the episode [written by Jackson] was sung by an impersonator Kipp Lennon.
• Michael recorded the song but due to contractual issues with his record label wasn't allowed to perform the song. 
• An original was recorded by Michael for the purpose of Kipp Lennon to mirror how the song should have sounded.

The third and final Transformers movie [starring Shia LeBeouf and directed by Michael Bay] opens in the US and UK on July 1st. The TV spots in the UK are advertising a June 29th advanced screening, but there are some cinema chains across the country showing Transformers from today [June 28th]. Check your local cinema for listings.

I started to watch the BET awards on Sunday night [well really Monday morning for me] but as soon as I heard Trey Songz singing I had to stop the streaming link and shut my PC down!

If I'd have stayed watching I would have seen this awkward blunder, which in my opinion was a blatant PR stunt by BET themselves which got Tiffany Green trending through no fault of her own. If you listen around the 0:40 second mark you hear a male voice off camera say "read it straight, read it straight."

She came, she slayed, she snatched wigs!! After a 1 hour and 40 minute set concert at Glastonbury, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles performed in another stellar, energy driven performance like only she could. She performed tracks from the Destiny's Child era, her new album 4, B'day and Dangerously in Love, as well as cover versions by Prince and Alanis Morisette.

Favourite Songs?

Too many songs. Too many albums. Too many genres to pick just a stand out stellar song that's my favourite. I have so many different songs that I love for so many different reasons. My 'Top Ten' needs to be extended to a Top 100+ I think, because I'm always claiming a song I 'bump into' on a random iPod shuffle as one of my favourites that take me back!

This one in particular is a slow, moody, chilling, yet haunting track called 'Closer' by Kings of Leon. I can definitely call it as my all time favourite of their music catalogue. No matter how many times I listen to it I never tire of it. Someone people on You Tube commented and said they'd love to have sex/make love to the track. I know what they mean. It's a sexy ass sounding song!

This one has turned into a Twitter/You Tube sensation for all of the wrong reasons. She even has a show this Sunday you can read all about it on Mad News Blog here. I have to thank @vexinthecity [in a warped way] for exposing me to this.

This video, the song, Shardinay and what was described on You Tube as a 44 year old looking rapper got seriously rinsed. Right down to his Lonsdale clothes were the butt of many jokes.

The best part of the vid was at the 3:02 mark....where it ended. Seriously you don't have haters, what these people are, are realists who know a joke sounding and looking thing when they see it. People are trying to save you from yourself. ASK YOURSELF HONESTLY do you really think you are talented? Do you honestly believe that? This isn't good. In fact it's awful. If you're trying to be like Bangs or Orie you're succeeding. You Tube jokes. That's why the hits are high and keep coming.
