Would You Love To See TV Show 'Girlfriends' Return? Do This, & It Just Might!

Persia White (Lynn), Jill Marie Jones (Toni), Golden Brooks (Maya) & Tracee Ellis Ross (Joan)

On February 11th 2008 after 172 episodes and eight seasons, The CW pulled the plug on one of the most successful US sitcoms. The finale wasn't wrapped with a proper ending, and it was pretty much left up in the air. Girlfriends got cancelled and viewers had no idea what in the living hell happened to any of the characters.

Let's Talk About Sex...

They knew exactly what they were thinking when they chose that paddle!
...err how about we don't.

I am far from being a prude, trust me on that one, but it seems like in this day and age it's the 'fashion' to talk about your sex life on Twitter/Facebook or any other place where people [may] pay attention to you.

I've spoken with friends about these 'Twitter antics', I've also tweeted the odd @ reply or DM [Direct Message] to other people on Twitter about the same said thing and not a lot of people are impressed by it or the usernames who feel the need to constantly chat about it.

If it's not that, it's people on BBM [Blackberry Messenger] posting sexual picture after sexual picture, or telling us in their status they want, are about to, or have just had some [sex].

I mean WHAT THE F*** IS THIS SERIOUSLY?

I equate this to one of the highest forms of attention seeking f**kery. Well you got my attention, I find you pathetic!

Moving on...

Some people are on a tip that they feel the more they talk about sex, or seem open about sex that they are some type of liberal sexpert, and anyone that doesn't agree or like what they do is a prude bordering on being a nun.

It's not about that at all, it's more a case of:
  • We don't want to know about your sex life as it's extremely boring to us, and quite frankly we aren't impressed.
  • You may be getting some, but we don't believe you're any good at it, based on your incessant bragging.
  • Whether some of us are saving it for marriage or having sex outside of marriage, some of us realise the IMPORTANCE of keeping a vast majority of our relationships/unions PRIVATE, and don't see the need for it to be cheapened in 140 characters or less for strangers to know about.
  • We respect our partners and don't feel the need to chat our business which is essentially their business too.
  • We just don't give a f***!!

Carrie Bradshaw - Sex & The City
As wonderful as Sex & The City was, I think some women got the wrong end of the stick [no pun intended] 6 seasons and 2 movies later and tried to become their very own Samantha Jones, or chat their arses off like Carrie and use Twitter and Facebook as their very own sex column. It doesn't work ladies. Running your mouth doesn't equate to being sexually liberated. We CHOSE to park our asses in front of the TV for 22 minute episodes, and paid to see the movies voluntarily. When I sit down in the morning and go through my timeline, I don't want to get visuals of your boney arse bonking your boyfriend, talking about how sore you are, or making references to semen whilst eating my bagel.
Sex is intimate. Save that intimate part of your relationship for your damn selves and don't be so quick to pick up your phone and tweet that element of it to a 657 strangers. We're not impressed, we actually think you have little to no shame to be quite honest. Even the ones probably egging you on to continue talking about it think the same and just wanna be 'all up in your business'. And speaking of being 'all up in your business', if you're going to be sharing those intimate parts of your relationship with strangers, please don't get mad if people ever ask you questions pertaining to your relationship. After talking about your sex life, are you really in a position to be demanding respect for your privacy?

I think not!

Attention Seeking: Karma & The Bitch

The attention seeking is astounding. If it's not celebrities on Twitter re-tweeting compliment after compliment from 'fans', people posting 200 new pictures a day from their night out on Facebook, or people just chatting their personal business on social networking sites, the level of attention seeking is becoming way too much.
I use Twitter on a daily basis, and have got back into checking in with Facebook on the regular again too. When my new love (Twitter) came on the scene I abandoned Facebook like a worthless ex-boyfriend. Now we seem able to happily co-exist once again after working out our issues and we are now on an even keel.

There is one person in particular (a female) on Facebook whose mission it seems is to humiliate her boyfriend PUBLICLY. Now as a woman, it doesn't make me 'pro-woman' to everything  that we do. A wrong is a wrong in my eyes, and that's just how I see it whether you're black or white, male or female. In this case this heffer is just dead wrong!

From what I can see, this guy seems really sweet and is trying to communicate with her. In a day and age where there are so many men trying to cover up their public feelings and emotions for their women for fear of looking like pussies, this guy didn't care. He seemed really good for her and her off key psychotic state of mind. Shit, they say there's someone for everybody (I don't believe that), but even nutcases need love too I suppose.

She is ignoring every form of communication with him. She adds a picture, he 'likes' it. Tells her he loves her. She ignores him. Tells her he misses her. She ignores him. She writes a status, he comments, she talks to everyone else BUT him in the comments. Other guys come on there telling her how hot she is, she's arranging meet ups with said dudes on her damn wall. I'm shaking my head like 'nah son this ain't right, and I CAN SEE WHY you (the female) got cheated on in your last relationship if this is how you carried on.

This isn't a one day thing, this has been going on for a weeks. I can't stop watching, as it's become a case of will she acknowledge him coupled with what's gonna happen next? Almost like a reality TV show being played out on Facebook.

Why put all your business out there?
Why play the dude like that?

From my Facebook status today

This guy is allowed to be lovesick, but he's not a pest, and I say that because she has the option to remove AND block him. She doesn't. She's keeping him around on a tight leash to purposely humiliate him and that just isn't right. Are you that starved of attention and affection that you need to treat someone like that, AND do it publicly? I tell you if the roles were reversed and a guy did that to me, I'd screen print his crap as evidence and remove myself from his page and his life to avoid further humiliation. What next, being humiliated in a public place? YOU.CAN.ALWAYS.DO.BETTER!

Men are not the only ones capable of being a bastard in a relationship, and this right here is case in point. I understand that sometimes people need that time to themselves whether it's bullshit on your mind, PMS, other hormonal crap going on that's putting you in bad funk, that you just want to be alone. She's not having one of those days. She's having one of those months!

I have a STRONG feeling that this chick (woman is too powerful of a word to use for her) is going to have a shitty year. And come December 30th and 31st she'll be leaving FB status messages about just how shit the year was and that 2012 is going to be her year. It won't be, unless she severely learns some serious lessons in life, about the way to treat people and actually remove negativity from her entire existence. But saying that, I think she'll always be about the bullshit. One of those women who thinks screaming and shouting is effective in relationships and as long as they are both doing it then the relationship is somewhat functional.

I personally DO NOT CARE if she is reading this. I REALLY DON'T. I actually hope that she or someone like her does and actually acknowledges their bullshit and does something to fix it and not treat people who dedicate their lives in trying to make you happy, like absolute shit! Karma works and is ALWAYS in effect. What you put out, you get back equally unto you in some way. Remember that!

I'm no saint myself, but I tell you this, I'm aware of God, the power of how The Universe works and karma. I sit and think very hard before I do certain things because I know within my heart of hearts it's NOT the right thing to do and do not want the negative repercussions happening to me.

I might just say a prayer for Mr X and put him on my prayer list, cause I'm feeling real sorry for him right about now, and he needs out of that situation. It's not love, it's not respect, and from what I see he seems heartbroken. Cut him loose, let him get over it and find a woman willing to work things out with, rather than hit him over the head Madea style with an emotional skillet. If he's a genuinely good guy, it's women chicks like this who can turn these men into the men that real women don't want....a scorned man. It works both ways with women too.

"Gettin' Madea wid it!"
Over dinner last night with Mrs H in Satay Bar Brixton, she told me when it comes to love you give that person so much power to hurt you by allowing yourself to be so open and trusting them with all that you have. And that when it comes to loving someone especially within marriage it really is a leap of faith.

Well his dude needs to act froggish leap his way on out the damn door and go and find someone worthy of his time.
Time is precious. Life is too short. So find someone worthy of both, your time and your life! ~LondonDiva

Don't Ask...Cause I'm Not Telling

It has been much longer that 'a while' since I last posted, not because I don't have anything to say, but more so because I have a lot to say. I realise that not everything going on in my life needs to be documented for one and all to see all of the time.

One thing a lot of people have taught me over the recent months, is to keep my personal business private, although I already knew this. Social Networking/Internet has taken an element of privacy out people's lives and made it public knowledge on the World Wide Web. It now gets to a point where you can't escape it.

I remember a time where I used to just tell my immediate family and friends when I was going away on holiday. You know, do the usual, send them my travel information, let them know when I was going and when I'd be back. Now it seems like just because you have people added to your Blackberry or follow some folks on Twitter and keep them amused on a daily basis they now feel the need to be informed of your whereabouts if you suddenly 'disappear.'

For the record...if I go on holiday/take a break from being online people know where I am, and God forbid if something happens to me the people who I would want at my funeral know where I went in the first place. Morbid, but true.

I have a blog, Twitter and Facebook account, I live by myself and don't answer to anyone and am entitled to a certain amount of privacy. I feel and think that some people think that just because you are in contact with them via these means that somehow all of a sudden 'we is family.' We are not!

I was off Twitter for a few weeks and came back to a whole heap of  "where is LondonDiva?" tweets. LondonDiva was not on Twitter, that's all folks needed to know. Like I said those who needed to know knew, and unlike some people I don't feel this burning desire to tweet when I'm going to be off and for how long. You know how black women are "don't ask me where I'm going, I'm gonna be where I'm at."*cue neckroll*

For a moment looking at all those tweets I was frustrated. Don't get me wrong I understand some people were concerned considering I tweet 100+ times a days then all of a sudden nothing, but still my thing was "who are you? I don't know your first or last name? You don't have my phone number, so is it really concern or is your claat just being nosy?" Could have been either or, but I wasn't in the mood to be checking in with the online world. I checked in the offline world and that was more than enough for me.

Whenever we want, sometimes we are allowed to escape, bugger off and just 'do us' in peace. Have a tranquil moment, do whatever the hell we like, and as much as we may appreciate the concern, sometimes we just don't want to be bothered. I don't want to come back answering questions about where I was. So I don't and I won't. On top of that, I'm not a 'centre of attention' type of person regardless of what you may think, I don't need to announce things 24/7 and have all eyes on me, I like to keep an element of my life private.

In this age of the Internet, I refuse to lose myself to a load of usernames belonging to people I have never met and probably aren't likely to either. Some people put so much of their business out there that even online personal space is being invaded, where folks step to you behind a username asking you where you were. "Err excuse me? Who the f*** is you?" That's like some random who takes the same train as me everyday coming up to me saying "I haven't seen you on this train in a few weeks, where were you?" Don't get it twisted just because you pressed a few buttons and decided to follow me on Twitter.

In the real world (offline) I'm not telling my co-workers shit. In the online world I'm not telling my followers shit....unless I choose to.

So the moral of the story is...don't ask me shit. I'll tell it, if I wanna tell it, when I wanna tell it.

And to some of you out there, stop chatting your bloody relationship business on that damn thing. Especially the women. Some things are sacred you know and should remain that way Just don't get mad when people start getting in your business and you wonder why. Here's the answer...cause you chat it so much you've pretty much made it their business as they're all up in yours.

Facebook Movie: The Social Network [Trailer]

I always wonder...we've had MySpace, Facebook and now Twitter. I cannot even begin to imagine what the next social networking phenomenon will be. I can't see much past Facebook and Twitter to be honest. MySpace is practically dead if you ask me and I don't know if FourSquare will catch on like that. Who knows?

Release Date:
USA 1 October 2010
UK 15 October 2010

Love the version of Radiohead's 'Creep' in this trailer.

We Demand! Support Us and Vocal Slender From 'Welcome To Lagos'

As I type this on the 3rd day the supporter count stands at 249. Thank You!

But we need more!

You DON'T have to be Black and you don't have to be British to support this.

The BBC show it's programmes around the world, so this is not just a UK thing.

  1. Join and support the Facebook Campaign http://www.facebook.com/WeDemand
  2. Buy Vocal Slender's music on iTunes and support his Myspace page.
  3. Link our campaign to your Blog or your Facebook Status.
  4. Re-Tweet on Twitter [and if you can fit it in] add #wedemand to your tweet.
ALL OF THOSE THINGS YOU CAN DO WHILST SITTING ON YOUR ARSE!

Vocal Slender works and lives on a rubbish dump in Lagos, Nigeria. He sorted through rubbish to sell to raise money for the studio time and to get pictures taken for his album. If that isn't a hard-working and determined brotha, then I don't know what is.

His track 'Owo Yapa' was featured in the BBC2 documentary 'Welcome To Lagos.' I heard through the Twitter grapevine that the BBC put his MySpace page together. Whether that is true or not I do not know. What I do know is after watching 'Welcome To Lagos' I wanted to buy Vocal Slender's track and the BBC didn't even put anything at the end of the programme to tell the viewers where we could buy it to support Vocal Slender. Don't even make me turn into a conspiracy theorist. So what, it's OK to show these people down and out, but have the means for the British public to help them and they can't even tell us how? You see how they stay? It's word of mouth tha

His music is available on iTunes and he has a MySpace page set up. It says he's currently unsigned, but something tells me he will be signed pretty soon.

Our campaign is NOT to get programmes like 'Welcome To Lagos' banned, we UNDERSTAND the importance of telling a variety of stories where it comes to the depiction of black people and Africa as a continent. We are demanding a balance of programmes to be shown where it comes to Africa as a people.

I love this tune...and as I type it's downloading on iTunes.

If you forget why I can't stand these shit days then here's a recap. We celebrate ours in the UK in March. Well they do. I don't. And no it won't change when I become a mother. My kids are soooooooo in trouble if they ever utter those three words to me. H**** M*****'* D**. It's punishment for a whole month if they do.

Hello My Name Is...And I'm A Facebook Attention Seeker

I have 125 [was 126 had to delete one dramatist 'friend' this week] friends on Facebook, and there were a few this week making that dramatic announcement that they were leaving Facebook due to the 'drama' on their page or other reasons entirely.

    Facebook 101
    *Delete them.

*If unnecessary comments are left on pictures you are tagged on. De-tag yourself.

*If unnecessary comments are left on your pictures. Disable the comments feature.

*If unnecessary comments are left on your wall, disable the wall feature or make it private.

*How about if you are leaving stop with the status message announcements. WE REALLY DON'T CARE! Send a private BULK message to your peeps asking for e-mail addresses to keep in contact. I will not be chasing you down with my e-mail address because you've decided to up and leave.

    "Go on then. Bye!"

From one person yesterday "I don't know if this place is for me"From the same person today "knows this isn't for me…time for a change"
    WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE??

JUST GO ALREADY or refer to Facebook 101. You don't want to be here so stop with the "I'm going…I'm gonna do it...no really I am…I'm leaving and there's nothing you can do to stop me…I mean it…you can't stop me."

Is this a ploy used by many just to gain 1500 status comments to feel loved and cared for that read

"Oh no babe, why you leaving? I'll miss you!"
    "Why what's been going on?"
"Awww sorry to see you go hun. xxx"

Truth is, I may like you, but in all honesty I couldn't give a rats bollocks if you're leaving a social networking website on the internet. Just hop to it and spare us the mini dramatic episodes please.

If You Don't Know Me. Don't Add Me!

Facebook and MySpace. Yes they get another mention in blogville today. I check my Facebook online and some random dude from Guyana wants to be my friend. He is friends with somebody I went to school with and must have woken up from his perch and decided to add me when he saw my name commenting on her status.

MySpace is fine now once the settings are tweaked but oh my goodness just random folks trying to befriend me were horrendous on a daily basis. WHAT.IS.THE.POINT of having 3,548 friends on any of these social networks and you only know 12 in real life. I added over a hundred from my forum I'm a regular on but have since deleted those as I don't really know them and I was getting no benefit from having them on my profile and keeping up with what was going on in their lives. And to be honest I really didn't care. So I had a MySpace spring clean one day and fixed up my profile and got rid of everyone I didn't know. I now have less than 30 friends on MySpace and a fair few consist of music artists I'm fans of or are interested in. I'm cool with having 28 on MySpace. On Facebook I have just over a hundred but they are legitimate people I have met in real life or know. That's my rule. There is only 1 person I can say on there I have never met but she's on both social networking site accounts of mine and that's an Internet buddy, we go way back from 98, we've spoken on the phone plenty of times she's sent me pictures of her and her hubby and kids so she can count as a worthy friend [and I promise myself next time I'm in New York we will meet up].
The others consist of family, close friends, old college and school friends, people I've met on my travels…you catch my drift.

So put it this way, if we've never spoken or shaken hands you will never grace being associated with me on a SNS. I'll never understand those that randomly hunt down women to add and even more so I'll never understand the fools that add these fools like they've been singled out as special women who may have a chance. Peep their page and you'll see woman after woman gracing it. You're nothing special just another [keyboard] 'hit and add' and on they go to the next woman to snag for www pleasures. It's like the online equivalent of one night stands and the number of friends and female profile pics equates to notches on bedposts for his boys to see like some online trophy.

Social networking sites are what you make of them. Keep your stuff private for only those you know and you're good. Keep it open and expect trash to come your way causing trouble or leaving messages of things that they want to do to you. I love both sites for different reasons. Getting back in touch with long lost school friends and seeing what everyone is up to and just having all of that in one place is brilliant. When you now wonder about the long lost friend from 13 years ago it's as simple as picking up your phone logging on and sending them a message via a downloaded Facebook application to say hello. And to think if I or anybody else wanted to organise a reunion it certainly wouldn't be that difficult, a few clicks and send a message to all.

I'm tired of the celebrity egos from some people who think their profile picture on the Internet gives them some kind of 23rd rate celeb status. Making announcements about coming off of Facebook because of comments **SIGH** is it really that serious? So 1 person is going to run you off for not keeping in contact with 200 people. Smelling yourself a bit aren't you?

*Switch your settings so nobody can leave a comment on your picture.
*If a friend tags you remove the tag, that will stop somebody else who is their friend commenting on your picture.
*If someone in your circle says something hateful, delete them as a friend.

I mean is it me or is that just not plain common sense than deleting your account? **Rolls eyes**

    Technology Is Ruining My Life

"Hello my name is LondonDiva and I am an addict"

I am a junkie and there is no support group for people like me. I'm sure there are some people on the www (aka the Super Internet Highway) who are more obsessed than me, but I can't help it, I just can't. If my computer is switched off then it's my Blackberry that comes with me everywhere I go. I'm constantly checking my Facebook to see the status of all my Facebook pals and update mine a few times throughout the day, or to send and reply to messages and wall posts.

I found the level of my addiction reach an all time high when I found myself actually pissed off that MySpace doesn't have an application for mobile phones and Blackerry's. WTF is that all about. The Internet features on phones are too slow and you'd think the biggest online community in the world would have stepped up to the plate by now and added one. I NEED A MYSPACE APPLICATION FOR MY BLACKBERRY AND I WANT IT NOW.!

It started this past weekend. I had a relapse. I've had a MySpace page for coming on 2 years now and had over a 100 'friends' on there. 90% of those people I didn't know or had never met personally, and a majority of them came from the forum I've been a member of for 6 years. Like my Facebook rule, which I actually reserve for people I know, old school or college chums, have met in person, or are family members, I decided I was going to apply the same rule to my MySpace account and get rid of over 100 'friends', of whom I had no interest in nor cared about their updates or what they had to say on their blogs. What their marital status was, or even browse through their pictures where it seems 99% of the female MySpace population seem to pose ass first.

I had a clean up and it felt good, like a technological rebirth. I added a few applications, deleted some comments from non friend contacts, added some new pictures and sent a few messages and hellos and genuine ones at that. I had actually spent most of my Sunday on MySpace, and now everything I should have done on Sunday has now spilled into Tuesday.

I've reached the end, and I need to get a grip and join a 12 step program. It's gotten to the point where:

    • I'm writing my blog entry when I should actually be working. I have work to do yet making sure my life online is documented is paramount.

    • I had a can of Pepsi and scrambled eggs for dinner last night.

    • I have not done the grocery shopping that should have been done on Friday (it's now Tuesday) because shopping takes up time that could be better spent on the PC at home.

    • I'm a DVD addict, but it's taken me 4 days to start and finish watching Heat. This addiction has been surpassed by the DVD addiction.

    • I take my Blackberry with me to the bathroom at home. The kitchen, living room and 2 feet away from me at night in the bedroom.

    • The letters in my In-Tray at home should have been filed away. They are piling up.

    • I have not put away the laundry from last week's wash.

    • I went to bed at 3:30am on Monday morning and even in bed was still logging in online on my Blackberry from underneath the sheets.

    • I check my e-mails before I even get up out of the bed.

    • The 2 dresses I posted in the "I'm Officially IN the Closet" post came yesterday and I haven't even tried them on.

    • I haven't sent back the 'faulty' handbag to ASOS yet.

    • I've been sending my expense timesheet off on Tuesdays instead of preparing them over the weekend and posting them on Monday morning.

    • My Blackberry red light is flashing so that means I have an e-mail, text, IM or Facebook notification, and I'm dying to press the button…I did it was a text from a recruitment agency wanting Accountants. **Yawn**

    • I check my Blackberry countless times at my desk just by pressing any button to see if there's something there waiting for me to read. Even though the red light tells me this.
It's official. I am sick. I need to get back to the more organised me. The me that knows the importance of enough sleep, a balanced diet and a tidy home.
Maybe the fact that I've acknowledged my addiction I can somehow take the steps to getting myself clean again. Getting clean is not the problem it's remaining sober, because I'm one online community and application away from over dosing. And once I'm gone I many never come back

(This is not meant as a diagnosis tool!) - great that makes me feel a whole lot better.

Are you addicted to the Internet quiz I scored 30

    Internet addiction likely
Based upon your responses to this quiz, it appears that the amount of time you're spending online may be causing you significant concerns within your real-world life. People who spend a lot of time online often find that they have difficulty balancing their Internet life with their real-world life (especially if you are new to the Internet). You should look at how you're using the Internet right now and see if there are ways that you can reduce or otherwise change your use of the Internet to reduce the issues it may be causing in your life. Think of it like this... You generally don't spend 6 or 8 hours in front of the television, every night, nearly every day. Most people wouldn't think that's normal. So if you find yourself spending that amount of time online day after day and it's affecting your ability to interact in your real life, you should seek change or additional help.

    How sad am I? On a scale of 1-10 probably a 30.
